about

This song is another kind of "dangers of heroin" track. I wrote a story about a kind of street urchin, like our post-punk version of "Jane Says".

It is about a prostitute (because I loved Deftones and how Chino kind of sang about hookers often, in my interpretation of the AROUND THE FUR album, haha).

It was also inspired by the film LEAVING LAS VEGAS, which always used to fuck me up emotionally when I would watch it. "Is there some reason in a terrible memory why you cast away or was it only to survive" is a lyric along those lines of the Nicholas Cage character wanting to know the motivations of Elisabeth Shoe in that movie, for example.

It is about waking up on the street and you've arrived in hell and wonder how you got there. Kind of like when I would look in the mirror when I was a junkie at age 20 and wonder how my life had gotten so fucking bad.
